NEWS: JUL 2 Confederate Statue Removal in Richmond, VA
RICHMOND, VA - JULY 2: A message, "Rebuild it better" is written at the base where the statue of confederate naval commander, Matthew Fontaine Maury, used to reside. The statue was removed July 2, 2020. After an emergency declaration, Mayor Levar Stoney ordered the immediate removal and storage of confederate statues in Richmond for public safety reasons. Protesters gathering at statues and trying to remove them became a matter of public safety. Protests continue after the death of George Floyd, an African-American man from Minnesota, who died in police custody on May 25, 2020. (Photo by Annette Holloway)
